MIG Welder (Team Leader / Supervisor Experience)
£25,000 plus overtime
Rotating shifts – mornings 6am – 2pm afternoons 2pm - 10pm (39 hour week)

The Client:
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced MIG Welder with previous man management / team leading experience to join a very successful, secure and growing business in the Sheffield area. They are a worldwide company with almost 300 employees and are very well established within their industry.


Reporting into the Welding Supervisor your job will be to accurately fabricate a range of simple bespoke stainless steel building products in line with customer requirements. You should be capable of producing components that meet quality standards first time.

The main duties include:
Provide support to the welding supervisor and cover during absence
Accurately interpreting customer requirements and reading manufacturing drawings.
Fabricating bespoke components up to 15mm thick in Stainless Steel via the MIG welding process.
Satisfy challenging production targets.
Support Welding supervisor and cover role during absence
Perform Health & Safety assessments

Experience of fabricating by MIG welding process. The candidates should be enthusiastic, driven, self starter with a ‘can do’ attitude, capable of using their own initiative and able to work with minimal supervision. Essential criteria includes:
Ability to understand engineering drawings.
Experience of working to challenging production targets.
Ability to solve problems without need for constant support.
Ability to deal with change
Posses Good H&S awareness.
Experience as team leader or equivalent role

Other desirable skills / qualifications include:
Competent of MIG welding to standard set in BS4872
Completed NVQ level 2 in Fabrication Methods
Experience in working with stainless steel materials.
Experience of plasma cutting and TIG welding
Experience of medium volume batch production work
Experience of operating overhead pendant crane.
A track record in a process improvement environment.

In return our client is offering an extremely attractive package including a salary of around £25,000 plus overtime and based on a 39 hour week. Additional benefits including a company pension and life assurance scheme, private healthcare scheme, free car parking, staff canteen and 33 days annual leave inc stats. The working hours for this position are 39 hours per week on a rotating mornings and afternoons shift pattern + O/T as & when required It will be necessary to be able to work flexible hours in order to satisfy customer requirements
